Attention, Senior Athletes!
2009-2010 Booster Club Scholarship Information
The York Suburban All-Sports Booster Club will award six $500 scholarships for the 2009-10 school
year. The scholarships will not necessarily be spread evenly over the three athletic seasons; nor will
they necessarily be evenly awarded to three male and three female athletes. The selection committee
will look at the overall quality of the essays submitted as well as the personal qualities of each athlete
(as listed below in #2) in making their final decision. Recipients of the scholarships will be notified in
May 2010.
The criteria for the scholarship include:
1. Eligibility to graduate
2. Demonstration of the following qualities:
a. Positive attitude
b. Good sportsmanship
c. Collaboration with teammates
d. Commendable work ethic
e. Strong team spirit
3. Submission of an essay that is well-written and convincing.
The application process includes:
1. Write a short essay (250-350 words) about what your experience in this particular sport has meant
to you. If you exceed 350 words, the committee will eliminate your application from
consideration. Use the link on the booster club website, http://www.ysboosters.org, to fill in
and submit your essay before the season’s deadline below. Please call or email the contact
below if you are having difficulty with the online form.
2. Direct your coach to go to the YS Booster club website at http://www.ysboosters.org/ and click on
the link on the left side for the “Coach's Nomination Form.”
Please use the online form. If assistance is needed please call or email
the contact below before completing the paper copy.
If you are unable to complete the online form then go to the Guidance Office to obtain a
nomination form and give it to your coach, along with an envelope that has your name and
Booster Club Scholarship written on the front.
***Your coach must complete the form before the season’s deadline. The committee will
eliminate your application if it is missing the coach’s nomination form.
3. All paperwork (essay and coach’s nomination form) must be submitted by the following deadline:
Fall applications due on October 30, 2009
Winter Application due on January 29, 2010
Spring applications due on April 16, 2010
4. You may apply for each sport in which you participate.
You will receive email confirmation of receipt of essay and coach’s form.
